Ask the Expert: Lillies and Gardenias
Jamie:
I have a gardenia tree (about 6 weeks old) that appears healthy but there was only one flower that bloomed. The buds keep on apprearing/growing but nothing opens up? I also recently purchased potted LA Hybrid Lillies and planted immediately in the ground. After a day or so the flowers wilt and then fall off gradually leaf by leaf. The whole flower just lasts a couple of days. What am I doing wrong?
I am new to gardening and would appreciate any advice. I am on the east coast so it is spring/summer here.
Attached are some pictures which could help with your diagnosis

Ask The Expert: can you help me identify a house plant?
It has a woody stem that growsin a slow spiral (vine-like). the leaves are singular off a rather longish stem. the are round. the shape of the leaf is very distinctive and some call it a lollipop plant, but this is not correct.
if you can figure this out, perhaps you can refer me to a good identification source
thanks in advance for your help jim

Ask the Expert: Was i bitten by a tree?
A palm-looking tree (with "fruit" that looks like artichokes) brushed its spikey frond on my bare shoulder. Immediately, it began to itch & welt. I later notice super-tiny splinters embedded into my skin where the spikes had touched. What is this? need more info on this strange tree… MM

Ask The Expert: My neighbor just gave my a peace lily from his wifes funeral. It has beautiful white flowers on it, but some of them the edges of the flower is turning brown. He had it outside for a little bit and then moved it to the garage. He said things have been very busy and he didn't water it like he should. Could that be the problem? The leaves are not brown just the flower.

Ask the Expert: Lucky Bamboo Plant too tall.. What is a "node"?
Hello,
You answered an earlier question about trimming down the height of a lucky bamboo plant. I read your reply, but am confused: Just what is a "node"? I am considering trimming my plant but don't know where to start. Sent you a picture, maybe that will help. After looking at the pictures, DO I need to trim it down, it measures about 38" tall from bottom of base to top tip leaf.
Thank You
Judy
