Trouble Finding A Boss's Day Gift Idea? Not Anymore!
October 13th, 2008 | By: Brynn JacksonI'm not going to lie. My boss is amazing. Yes, I thank my lucky stars (figure of speech) every day that I'm one of the fortunate ones blessed with a supportive, instructive, intelligent, respectable boss. It's times like Boss's Day this October 16th that really throw me for a loop though. Sorting through all of the gift ideas for Boss's Day can be a real chore when shopping for someone of such worth. So how does one go about finding the right gift for their boss? Easy! Contact a local florist.
Florists always have great gifts. Beautiful arrangements of colorful flowers, unique gifts for special occasions or any occasion, and a love of floral design are so much an intricate part of the greatness of florists that DNA samples from the best florists are probably shaped in some Ikebana or traditional while gorgeous design.
Now that I've climbed off of my soapbox, I must include one more reason to choose a local flower shop when picking out a gift for your supervisor or employer. One thing that florists add that other places lack is an extremely personal touch. Everything can be tailor made to suit the customer.
Have a fun picture? Put it on a mug that your florist can then fill with flowers or candy. Attach a few balloons to the handle and you have yourself a wonderful gift! Ideas for more Bosses Day gifts come naturally to some people. When they don't flow as smoothly in your direction, contact your local florist for a gift idea that can't be beat.
Think your job is tough? It may be but think about how much harder your boss must have it if he or she is handling their work, managing yours, and responsible for the great work (and flub-ups) of your coworkers. A fun little gift to celebrate Boss's Day this October is a great way to say that you understand and appreciate how awesome they are–real Grace Under Pressure! Your boss will appreciate the extra support!

Did You See Lifetime Television This Morning
October 10th, 2008 | By: Jamie Jamison AdamsWe all know that sending flowers is a great way to create memories with the gifts we give to our family and friends. In fact last April, I even wrote a newsletter about it for Flower Shop Network called Flower Memories; detailing the wonderful memories I had from the flowers I had received as gifts throughout the years. Well this morning Lifetime Television explored the issue of sending flowers using a real local florist.
Growing up we had a very close relationship with our local florist and it was easy to send flowers to my family and friends because most of them lived in the same town as I did. Of course, today my family and friends are scattered across the country and I often turn to the internet to send them things including flowers. In fact even before I came to FSN as the Plant Expert, I used the Flower Shop Network directory to find a local florist where ever my friends and family lived. I did this because I knew that Flower Shop Network verified the loaction of the florists in its directory. As a result I have been able to talk to the florist in that town and every flower gift I have sent was a pleasent experience. However not everyone is aware of the benefits of using a local florist. So The Balancing Act segment that aired on Lifetime Television this morning should be very helpful to consumers across the nation. Danielle Knox (The Balancing Act host) asked questions that most people ordering flowers using the interent needed answers to and Brock Atwill (FSN President) gave very helpful tips.
If you didn't see the segment, I highly recommend watching it. I actual got a few tips from it my self and the shot of the flower arrangement from Petal Designs made me want to send flowers to someone in Boca Raton Florida. I loved the color and texture combination that Dan Harvill used in the arrangement. That alone makes watching the segment worth it.

Celebrating Sweetest Day In The Sweetest Way
October 10th, 2008 | By: Brynn JacksonWhat's the sweetest way to show appreciation for someone? With a Sweetest Day gift, of course! Mothers are celebrated with Mother's Day gifts but one day is hardly complete compensation for the many sleepless nights that go into caring for children and nurturing their dreams. Lovers are celebrated with Valentine's Day, but so much love is poured out throughout the year that one day is almost long forgotten as the later months of fall and winter come. To show true appreciation for the people that mean the most to you, simply share a "thank you" or "you matter to me." When a gift goes the extra mile toward a meaningful holiday celebration, many look to a local florist for a Sweetest Day sweet treat.
Stacey's Flowers and Gifts, a creative flower shop in Manistee, Michigan, is well known for their unique stock of sweet gifts and treats. The most popular items are the candy-filled mugs that everyone can enjoy. Children who may not want flowers love the sweet treats and balloons that can be easily attached to the handle. Men are often difficult to shop for when holidays arise, but a personalized gift is always a big win-especially when the gift comes with ounces of delectable goodies.
After birthdays, Valentines Day, Christmas and the many other gift-giving holidays, many wonder why another holiday should be thrown into the mix. The simplest answer is also the best: to carry on the noble tradition of letting the least of the least know that they are the most important to someone.
Sweetest Day is a burst of confidence and good will that began in 1922 with Herbert Birch Kingston, a candy company clerk in Cleveland. Kingston sought to show appreciation or the forgotten by delivering gifts of candy and good wishes to local orphanages, terminally ill, the disabled and others. The contagious feeling of doing a good deed quickly caught on and is now a popular holiday celebrated primarily in Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, and Wisconsin on the third Saturday of October each year. However, the holiday is now taking hold in other parts of the nation as locals to these Great Lakes regions relocate but continue to celebrate the tradition.
Regardless of location, it is always an appropriate time to show appreciation to someone for their contribution to the quality of our lives. Sometimes the smallest phrases have the biggest impact. "Thank you," "I love you," "You mean so much to me," and "I'm who I am today because you cared" have significant affects on a person. Even cooing "Sweets for my sweet" while presenting a gift basket full of goodies is enough to show someone that he or she has had a significant impact.
Sweetest Day is celebrated every third Saturday in October which falls on October 18th this year. A Sweetest Day gift may not seem like much, but for the people that mean the most to us, this is the least that we can do.
Warm Her Heart With Apple Cider And October Anniversary Flowers
October 9th, 2008 | By: Brynn JacksonThere are so many ways to say "I love you" during an anniversary surprise for your sweetheart. Sending flowers is a great way to show appreciation for the person that has stayed the course another year, but make the occasion even more memorable this year by including a sweet surprise of romantic anniversary flowers.
October is a beautiful month celebrated as the official start of the fall season. In honor of the beautiful beginning of autumn, why not celebrate your October anniversary with an apple cider picnic surprise? Gather your picnic supplies and head out to a romantic natural location for a special dinner. City parks are great locations for urbanites wanting to try this idea.
For the most romantic anniversary, flowers start the night off right. Picking up a cash and carry (hand-tied) bouquet from your local florist ensures that you'll be picking up your beloved in style. Women will swoon over the beautiful flowers without a hint at the rest of the natural wonders that lay in store for the evening.
For a chilly afternoon, snuggle up with some warm apple cider and sweet treats. Though the sweetest treat is sitting beside you, natural beauty is enhanced by the sweet sensations of apple pie, homemade preserves, chocolate fudge, tasty chicken salad, and of course the beautiful bouquet of flowers that pull everything together. Your sweetheart will be able to remember the special date for several days to come as the flowers cheer up the room from their comfy vase home. However, the memories of your special day will last forever. Make the occasion feel as beautiful as your know your beloved to be.
