Hi. We have beens selling lucky bamboo in Australia for a few years now, and have found that the some glass pebbles can harm the plants. Washing them is excellent, but we have found that putting a drop (and I mean One Drop) of Dettol into the water when refilling this will kill any bacteria that may grow in between the pebbles.

It should be ok to use the glass beads from Walmart. However I would wash them first.
