Happy Home For Peace Lily

November 6th, 2007 | By: Jamie Jamison Adams

Ask the Expert: What sort of pot do I use for my Peace Lily?

I have a large beautiful Peace Lily which recently came from the florist in a too small basket. There is very little soil around the roots. I have been told that this plant grows better in a plastic pot. Is this true?

    Jackie,

The type of material the pot is made of is not important. What is important is the drainage. A Peace Lily likes a pot that has drain holes in the bottom. If you find a decorative container that doesn't have drain holes, pot the peace lily in a plastic pot that will fit in the container. This will allow for good drainage.
