Identification of Common Houseplants

October 16th, 2007 | By: Jamie Jamison Adams

Ask the Expert: i need help identifying some houseplants. they are both tropical. one has big palmate leaves, it is common as a houseplant in northern regions. the other has red and yellow highlights on oval leaves, also common as a houseplant in northern regions. if you can help me with some names or options, and point me to a website with photos, that would be fabulous. thanks so much. Audrey

    Audrey,

I believe the two plants above fit your description. The first one, Croton (Codiaeum variegatum pictum) can be found on Flower Shop Network's Types of Houseplants page.

The second, Variegated Dwarf Schefflera (Brassia arboricola variegata) can be found on Flower Shop Network's Pictures of Houseplants page. There is another type of schefflera on the same page.
