   Bill,

   The white flower in the picture is Veronica (speedwell). Identifying the specific cultivar is difficult with just one picture. If I had to guess — Veronica spicata. This variety blooms in midsummer.

   Bill,

   After Looking at the new photos, my first impression was incorrect.
   This plant is an Itea — Sweetspire probably Henry’s Garnet. The multiple photos gave me a better perspective.

   Bill,

   That plant is definitely gooseneck loosestrife. I have it and it makes a lovely cut flower. It is slightly invasive but nothing like purple loosestrife.

   Bill,

   Jane maybe right. I have never seen that particular type of Lysimachia. But according to the picture in the American Horticultural Society A-Z Encyclopedia of Garden Plants, I think Jane maybe on to something. You’ll have a positive identification this fall because the Sweetspire leaves will turn red but Loosestrife does not.

   I have only grown Lysimachia nummularia (Creeping Jenny) is the Gooseneck Loosestrife as easy to grow? Thanks for setting me straight. I love to learn new plants. Thanks!!!

   I’ve just looked up a bunch of pictures online of the gooseneck loosestrife, and it seems to be the right one. Thanks for the replies.
