Ask the Expert: WHAT FLOWER IS THIS?
MY MOTHER ALWAYS CALLED THIS FLOWER A "LEMONHEAD". I THINK IT IS A TYPE OF WILD SUNFLOWER. WHAT DO YOU THINK IS ITS GENUS AND SPECIES?

HERE IS A PHOTO OF THE SIMPLE LEAF. IT IS DEEPLY LOBED.

From these photos it is a little hard to tell. The bloom looks like it could be a sunflower (Helianthus), Ox Eye (Heliopsis) or Tickseed (Coreopsis). All of these plants have a similar bloom, however the foliage is different for each one. If you could upload a more detailed shot of the foliage, it might aid in identification.

My mother had these in her garden and always referred to them as "golden glow"………….. that was in Canada

Think you may have a form of Rudbeckia triloba. The leave structure looks similar but the flower is more like a Coreopsis. I am still researching.

Jamie, I am not sure, but I think it could be: Rudbeckia laciniata 'Goldquelle'
This is a double form of the plant which looks similar.
