Brenda,
I was just in Sedona and I believe I saw this same plant. It is Datura stramonium and can be commonly referred to as Thorn Apple, Devil’s Trumpet, Devil’s weed, Jimson weed and a host of other names. The flowers are beautiful and can range from white to yellow, pink to light purple. Despite it’s beauty this plant can be deadly if consumed. It has been used as a hallucinogenic but fatal overdoses often occur. It is a great food source for some the larvae of some Lepidoptera (butterfly and moth).
It is an easy plant to grow and care for. I would be careful to grow it where small children or curios pets might try to eat it.
