Ask the Expert: can you identify this flower?
Hi –

This flower has been here since we moved in — the leaves looked like iris leaves, but the plant never boomed –so I planted other things around it and started to care for the plant.

Ask the Expert: Was i bitten by a tree?
A palm-looking tree (with “fruit” that looks like artichokes) brushed its spikey frond on my bare shoulder. Immediately, it began to itch & welt. I later notice super-tiny splinters embedded into my skin where the spikes had touched. What is this? need more info on this strange tree… MM

Ask The Expert: My neighbor just gave my a peace lily from his wifes funeral. It has beautiful white flowers on it, but some of them the edges of the flower is turning brown. He had it outside for a little bit and then moved it to the garage. He said things have been very busy and he didn’t water it like he should. Could that be the problem? The leaves are not brown just the flower.

Ask the Expert: Lucky Bamboo Plant too tall.. What is a “node”?
Hello,
You answered an earlier question about trimming down the height of a lucky bamboo plant. I read your reply, but am confused: Just what is a “node”? I am considering trimming my plant but don\’t know where to start. Sent you a picture, maybe that will help. After looking at the pictures, DO I need to trim it down, it measures about 38″ tall from bottom of base to top tip leaf.
Thank You

Ask the Expert: Can you help with soil condition of spaths?
We purchased 4 spath gigantica plants for our church @ Easter. The soil on all has a white sticky residue that makes the water milky. Leaves are dark green with new growth of white ‘flowers’ so it plants appear healthy. Any idea what’s wrong with soil and will it eventually affect plant?
Thanks for any info. Carol

Hi Jamie,
I have a dumb cane that was given to me. I sat it in water to root. Once it rooted I potted it. The plant has not grown and still have the same 9 leaves as it did when I started. Where did I go wrong and how can I correct it?
Thank you
