Stagnate water and root rot can cause lucky bamboo to smell.  Clean the container and change the water.  Remember to use distilled water when refilling your container.  If you have root rot cut the bottom of the stalk off and let the healthy tops grow new roots.  You may need to cut back on fertilizing since that can cause root rot.</description>
