What Is A Lucky Bamboo Node?

June 2nd, 2008 | By: Jamie Jamison Adams

Ask the Expert: Lucky Bamboo Plant too tall.. What is a "node"?

Hello,
You answered an earlier question about trimming down the height of a lucky bamboo plant. I read your reply, but am confused: Just what is a "node"? I am considering trimming my plant but don't know where to start. Sent you a picture, maybe that will help. After looking at the pictures, DO I need to trim it down, it measures about 38" tall from bottom of base to top tip leaf.
Thank You
Judy

    Judy,

You pictures were great but I had an up close shot from another question I had answered so I am using it. The raised brown rim shown in the yellow box is the node the red line to the left is where you make your cut. From what I can tell from your pictures, your lucky bamboo is still proportional to your container and only needs to be cut if personally you want a shorter plant. I hope this helps.

    Thank You,
I now know what a "Node" is!
Judging from your answer I feel my plant doesn't need cutting just yet.
