Also many of the professors have noted that there is a decided increase in the student's ability to learn, retain information and remain tranquil in class when they have such things as art and fresh flowers in close quarters where they are learning. These have a calming effect on the students which in turn offers a better learning environment. This in turn translates into a better overall experience in the classroom. The presence of fresh flowers near students while they are studying is working well for the professors in FSU and as a result they continue to follow the unwritten procedure year after year. Florida State has been a highly rated University in the area of academics for some time now. This is seen as a direct correlation between the grade point average of the students and the calming effects of the fresh flowers nearby.
