Flower Superstitions

Friday the 13th is considered to be a very unlucky day in some parts of the world. This is the day many people remain highly conscious of what they do, being careful not to break a mirror or spill salt on the table. But, did you know flowers also carry a lot of superstitious beliefs? Here are several beliefs about flowers, some of which…are kind of weird.

It is said that roses are planted near someone’s grave to protect their soul from evil spirits.

Seeing a white rose bloom in autumn signifies an early marriage.

Throwing rose leaves into a fire is said to bring good luck!

Want to know how many kids you’ll have? Blow a dandelion! The seeds that remain symbolize the number of children you’ll have in the future.

Wondering when you’ll get married? Go to a place where dandelion flowers are abundant and pick some at once with your eyes closed. The amount you pick up is the number of years before you get to tie the knot!

Men, to find out if your current relationship will last, you can carry a flower in your pocket for 24 hours. If the flower remains fresh after all that time, your relationship will be long-lasting.

It is often considered bad luck to give flowers to a person before they go out to perform on stage. Instead, wait until after the performance to congratulate them with flowers. Just to be safe! You never know.

Want to know how a person feels about you? Remove the petals of daisies saying, “he loves me, he loves me not.” The final petal determines the nature of the connection.

Aren’t you intrigued to see if any of this superstitions are actually real? Head to your local florist, get yourself some daisies or roses, and give them a try! Also, be sure to share other superstitions you may know in the comments. We’d love to read them!
