More Than Just Members

Laughter and smiles filled the Flower Shop Network order transfer room Friday afternoon when a dozen delicious cupcakes, a large box of cookies and candies, and a mouth-watering cake was delivered. The unexpected afternoon treats touched hearts and showed our FSN family once again how amazing our local florists are.

Skip and Esther Vergers are the proud owners of Lighthouse Point Flowers in Florida. Their flower shop has been in business for decades and they have been a part of the Flower Shop Network family for seven years.

Our FSN Order Transfer Department and Sales Representatives have helped Skip and Esther over the years and have developed strong relationships with the couple. A few weeks ago during a phone conversation, they learned that Skip was finishing his chemotherapy treatments in two weeks and was preparing for surgery. The department sent Skip and Esther a card along with an email to let them know that they are loved and cared for by their FSN family.

A Sweet Surprise

Much to everyone’s surprise, the next week a huge delivery of sweets arrived at the office. A note was taped to the top of the box that said, “Special thanks for all of your concern and best wishes! It means so much to us! Love y’all! – Skip and Esther.”

The entire office was absolutely blown away by the Vergers’ kindness and generosity. It is a day at the office that won’t be forgotten. To everyone that has spoken to this sweet couple, they are more than just members of FSN. They are dear friends, and one simple card of well wishes touched their hearts.

This type of relationship is what we are striving for at Flower Shop Network. Our goal is to be a true partner for local florists. Helping florists across the country with their needs and providing solutions to their problems without taking over their business.

Our vision is to see local flower shops across the country thriving. Stories like this encourage us and give us the motivation to continue making strides towards our goal.

FSN Relay for Life!

The American Cancer Society held its annual Relay for Life this past weekend, and Flower Shop Network was out in force! We whipped up a fantastic team name, the Flower Patch Kids, put together a wonderful raffle prize and rallied our staff to walk for charity. There was no end to the fun had throughout the evening and through to the next morning. Delirium began to set in around 4 am just after the fudge round eating contest, (First place went to our own Mandy Maxwell who downed four in under a minute. Impressive!) but we persevered. Check out the photos below for examples of all we offered our booth attendees!

Here are the ladies showing off their new Relay T-shirts! FSN bought one for every staff walker.

Fun with Signage

A wealth of charity fund-raising activities to be had at the FSN booth. And that was legitimate sweet tea and lemonade too. This is the south, folks. There are some things on which you simply cannot skimp.

Quilt and Facepainting

In the background you can see May Canoy of the FSN graphics department doing a little face painting. In the foreground we have a gorgeous quilt made by our very own Loranne Atwill which was raffled off, the proceeds adding to our overall contribution.

Face Paint!

And here’s the final product from our face-painting masters. I think she loves Batman. The logo in the shape of a heart tipped me off.

Thanks for coming along on this picture journey through Flower Shop Network’s corner of the 2014 Relay for Life! But this is just the tip of the fun iceberg. Make sure to check back at the FSN blog regularly for your passport to plenty more exciting FSN activities throughout the upcoming summer months!

FSN Christmas Celebration!

Today we enjoyed a wonderful lunch together for our annual Flower Shop Network Christmas Party. The food was great, the company was better and the homemade desserts were to die for! To keep things interesting, we also held an Ugly Sweater Contest. I’ve never seen so many people wearing working lights! Take a moment to peruse through this photo tour of the FSN festivities and Happy Holidays!

Ugly Sweater Contest

To help everyone get into the Christmas spirit, we also held an Ugly Sweater Contest. And let me tell you, folks, our people didn’t disappoint. These are some UGLY sweaters.

Giving Gifts

Did you think that was all? Not quite yet. Brock and Loranne decided to hand out some Christmas gifts and everybody got a little something.

And yet the giving wasn’t done yet …

Happy Holidays from Flower Shop Network!!

Enjoying a Thanksgiving Potluck with FSN

Flower Shop Network is going to be closed on Thanksgiving Day, so the FSN family chose to get together this Thursday for food and fellowship.

We decided to go potluck style this year, and let me tell you, some of these folks can cook! Most of the food in these shots is homemade and it was all delicious. Enjoy the images, but let me tell you, the reality was fantastic!

Potluck food

Tables full of food. We had traditional favorites like candied yams and more ethnic fare with homemade hot tamales! Yum!

Care for a Roll

Is this the bread aisle at some local market? No! It’s just a few of the many tasty options we sorted through to fill our bellies.

Shelley

Shelley looks thrilled with her selections! Well, it wouldn’t be hard. Everything was excellent.

Gobble Up The Top 20 Thanksgiving Card Messages

“Happy gobble-gobble!” That’s the traditional way to say Happy Thanksgiving in my family. A table full of food is my favorite thing about Thanksgiving Day but there’s a lot to love about the holiday. Friends and family gather around to celebrate a day off of work, a really good football game, a feast of delicious food and the turkey coma that follows. What an incredible day!

What’s kind of sad is that the real meaning of the holiday is becoming lost in the muffled voices of people eating, so I’ve decided to reiterate a bit of it. We all know the story of how the pilgrims came over on the Mayflower to settle the colonies that would later become America. The winter was bleak and barren but the local Indians were kind enough to share their food as well as teach the pilgrims some survival tips for the next winter. We owed them a debt of gratitude for their hospitality, began saying thanks by dining together which formed a strong bond, and thus began the tradition of Thanksgiving.

Dining together still forms a wholesome bond between people, but sometimes celebrating Thanksgiving in this way isn’t possible. For this reason, many choose to send Thanksgiving flower arrangements or cornucopias. After all, everyone loves receiving a gift even if it is in lieu of the sender’s company. The hard part comes in finding the right card message to go along with the gift of flowers. To make it simpler, local florists have provided their favorite choices for Thanksgiving card messages. Enjoy!

Enjoy These Frightfully Fun Halloween Card Messages

What do costumes, apples and ghouls have in common? Halloween. I know. I gave you that one. In any case, Halloween is a very festive time when even the most straight-laced folks get to let loose and enjoy the evening. It’s the only time of year when no one thinks twice about seeing Batman walk down the street beside an angel and a skeleton. Kind of creepy, yes, but Halloween is a popular holiday for a reason—the gifts! Halloween gifts range from gag gifts to Halloween flower arrangements. When boo-tiful blossoms are the gift of choice, the hard part becomes figuring out what clever lines to leave on the enclosure card. I’ll help you out again.

Local florists spend Halloween like everyone else except they get to deliver their best Halloween flower arrangements and watch how happy this type of celebration makes people. They are always coming across new and clever card messages to accompany their arrangements, so it seemed only natural to ask for some of their favorite Halloween card messages.
