Sneak Peek: The 2012 Summer Olympics Bouquet

When it comes to the olympics, summer or winter, the entire world stops to take notice. Athletes dedicate their lives to perfection in their sport and compete to take home so much more than a medal. Their accomplishments in the olympics translate into well-deserved glory and honor in their home countries.

The London 2012 Summer Olympics are scheduled to take place in London from July 27th to August 12th. From archery to gymnastics, cycling to water polo — you can bet competition at these games will be fierce, which is why winners deserve so much respect.

In addition to the Gold, Silver and Bronze medals, winners can also expect to receive a unique bouquet of flowers from the Jane Packer floral design studio. Some 4,400 floral ”Victory Bouquets” will be presented to athletes along with medals during the Victory Ceremonies.

5 Tips For Savoring The Remaining Days of Spring

The last days of spring are upon us; summer officially begins on June 20th.

While it already feels like summer in a lot of places, it’s not official yet! Why not celebrate the remaining days of spring while you can? This year is going by quick enough, it’s time to settle down and pay more attention to the changing seasons.

• Ordering Spring Flowers – You know I have to suggest it, but it’s true! Nothing shouts SPRING more than spring flowers. Don’t think you have to send them to anyone either, order them as a treat for you and your family. However, if you have a friend who needs a boost in spirits, spring flowers are the way to go!
• Spring Picnic – While you can enjoy these in summer, it’s often too hot. Spring is the perfect time for picnics and family get-togethers.
• Spring Cleaning – This isn’t necessarily fun, but very spring! Cleaning helps us take the load off, both literally and mentally. Clearing clutter in our homes helps in so many aspects of our life. Plus you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy summer and not have to worry about cleaning.
• Makeover Madness – Spring clean doesn’t have to stop at the house; treat yourself to a makeover, facial, pedicure, haircut or any other pampering. This will make you feel youthful, energized and ready for summer!
• Cloud Parade – Take some time to get outside! While temps are still comfortable, take a blanket, towel or yoga mat outside. Lay back and watch the parade of clouds go by. Invite friends or family to join you and challenge each others’ imagination by spotting shapes in the clouds.

While these are just a few suggestions, there are hundreds of ways you can enjoy this time of year. However you do it, enjoy yourself! Take the time to stop and smell the roses. Don’t let spring pass you by without taking full advantage of it!

Some of the first flowers of spring come from tiny grasses. As I walk my dog every day, I always notice new types of grass flowers that only get the chance to bloom between mowings. The tiny, yet beautiful flowers foreshadow all the colorful blooms of spring. As florists, it’s easy to overlook these little gems. They simply cannot be used in floral design… or can they? Carnations have made a huge comeback in recent years with the appearance of bright new colors and styles. Florists have also found incredibly creative ways to showcase this ruffly flower. And you’ve got to love their long-lasting abilities!

10 Easy Christmas Tree Decorating Tips

Christmas seems to come earlier and earlier ever year. If you haven’t already got your tree up, here are a few easy tips to make your Christmas tree look extraordinary.

• 10 – ‘Fluff’ all of the limbs on your tree. If your tree is fake, take the time to ungroup all of the branches on every limb, try to fill in every hole. Yes it takes time, but it will make your fake tree look fuller, and more real-to-life.
• 9 – Extra ‘fluff’ the bottom limbs. Don’t let your tree just cut off at the bottom, pull branches down with limbs pointing slightly upward to make it look rounded and natural.
• 8 – Inside out. Add shiny, ‘filler’ ornaments to the inside first to make it look more full.
