Advertising Niche Services
After years of working in the floral industry - and the fact that I'm on a computer for the better part of my day - I've found myself subscribed to a large number of florist email newsletters, advertisements and the like. Of course, you always like to keep an eye out on the competition, but sometimes I run across a marketing piece that just grabs my attention - not so much because of the product itself, but because of the underlying marketing. Consider the email marketing piece that I received this morning...
Many may think that it isn't strange that a florist would offer services such as landscape design or consulting services to businesses and homes in their area - but the point I took away from this message is that this florist is telling their customers about other niche services that they provide.
I constantly see email marketing pieces that constantly promote fresh flowers, arranged flowers, green plants and the like - but very, very few that drive home the fact that a florist provides other niche services related to their fresh flower business.
The underlying message is this: Find the products and services that make your shop different from your competitor down the street and tell your customers about those products and services! Most florist shops today provide much, much more than just fresh flowers. In these uncertain times, it is critical to differentiate your business from the competition.
Find your niche and tell your customers about it NOW, before your competitor does.
