December is a month of wonder and magic that spans everything from Christmas to Hanukkah to Kwanza to the Winter Solstice. People from all backgrounds come together this time of year to show love and appreciation for the world and for each other.
But no matter what holiday you’re celebrating, I think we can all agree that the perfect gift or decoration is always the same … flowers!
Best Reasons to Send Flowers in December
December is a great month for holidays, and anytime there’s a reason to celebrate, there’s a reason to buy flowers! So look below for all the great opportunities you’ll have this month to visit your local florist.
#1 Hanukkah – December 16th – 24th – Happy Hanukkah! Hanukkah is the first of this month’s holiday goodness, and it lasts a whopping eight days! That’s eight opportunities to bring the gift of flowers to those you love and cherish. And for personalized gifts, there’s no better place in town than your local flower shop!
#2. Christmas – December 25th – Merry Christmas! This is easily the most celebrated holiday in the US, and it is the perfect time to buy flowers. You can give flowers as gifts, use them to decorate your home for the season or just buy a magnificent arrangement to set in the middle of your feast table. However you use them, the best flowers can be found with your local florist.!
December Flower Spotlight: Poinsettia
As it is in keeping with seasonal tradition, this month’s flower spotlight should be no surprise to anyone. After all, what flower is most associated with the holiday season? None other than the Poinsettia, of course!
This is yet another plant that comes to us from south of the border, and like the dahlia, it was once important to the Aztecs. Although the dahlia was a food source, (really!) the poinsettia was used to create red dye, and it absolutely should not be ingested.

Floral Magic For New Year’s Day
The old year is fading away as a new one finally begins to push its way through the soil. All those good things (and maybe a few not so good things) from the last 52 weeks are drawing to a close leaving nothing but opportunity and newness of life ahead.
So what’s the best way to celebrate this new dawning? Flowers, of course!
An Explosion of Color
Flowers are infinitely versatile. They are capable of expressing deep emotion, but they can also showcase the life of the party. (And what’s New Year’s Eve without a party?)
So even if you don’t have access to those cool, fire-based fireworks in your area, you can still get an explosion of color with flowers from your local florist. They make a gorgeous display of breathtaking beauty, and the perfect gift for any friend or loved one. (Feel free to provide the sound effects yourself. Pop … zoom … bang!)
