Holiday Highlight: Doctor’s Day

Every year on March 30th, Doctor’s Day is observed across the United States! Wondering how you can get involved? Keep reading to learn more about the history of Doctor’s Day and the best flowers to send!

History

The first Doctor’s Day was celebrated in Winder, Georgia, on March 30th, 1933. Eudora Brown Almond, a doctor’s wife, felt the need for a day to honor the work of physicians. Her community sent cards to doctors and placed flowers on the graves of doctors who had passed away. Doctor’s Day was proclaimed a national holiday in 1991 by President George H.W. Bush.

There are many ways to honor the doctors in your community on Doctor’s Day, but one of the best ways is by sending flowers! Here are some of the best flowers you can send for Doctor’s Day:

Red Carnations

Red carnations are one of the symbols for Doctor’s Day. These flowers represent sacrifice, charity, courage, bravery, and love—all qualities a great doctor should possess.

Blue Hydrangeas

The perfect way to say thank you to your doctor is with blue hydrangeas! These flowers symbolize gratitude and will let your doctor know how much you appreciate everything they do for you all year long.

House Plants

A green plant is a gift that keeps on giving. It can last a very long time and will bring a smile to your doctor’s face every time they see it. They’re sure to love whichever plant you choose!

No matter what you choose to send your physician for Doctor’s Day, they’ll love feeling appreciated! Contact your local florist today and place your order for Doctor’s Day!
